Finally I finished the Darning stitch sampler. Again it is a floral design that has been filled using darning stitch. How wonderful it is to know that there are so many stitches that can be used for outlining as well as filling.
Here, the stems have been worked using stem stitch.
Somehow, this reminds of the Indian Kantha Embroidery
The petals were outlined with four rows of darning stitch in yellow, and then filled with orange colored thread.
The texture of the stitch seems to be much similar to that of machine embroidery. It uses very less thread to fill the area, than compared to other stitches.
That's it , Hope you have enjoyed seeing a new work ( at least an uncommon one) that's not much in use .

Here's another close up view of the leaf ..... I just love this .
I first filled one half of the leaf with darning stitch and then the other half.
